Highlight the page, not a copy of it

Most highlighting tools pull text out of the page and into a separate reading app. That is fine until you need the real page again and your highlights feel disconnected from the source. Yawas solves that by keeping your notes attached to the original page itself.

Better for research and reference material

That makes it especially useful for research, documentation, reference material, and any page you know you will need to revisit later in its original context.

A long-running tool that is still useful today

Yawas (Yet Another Web Annotation System) began in 2000 during my PhD thesis. You can read the original research article, install it on iOS, Chrome, Firefox, and Edge, or browse the open-source code on GitHub.
